Our Story

In 2013, Ray Adamyk, Co-Founder of Homes of Promise, was involved in a 12-Step program called Celebrate Recovery. It was during this time that Ray saw a great need for community. Oftentimes, Ray would ask attendees where they lived and the responses were quite astounding — in my garage, in my car, in the Walmart Parking lot, couch surfing, or worst of all, the streets. Ray realized there was a great need for those struggling with isolative addiction. The men and women he spoke to were alone and isolated. This isolation is a direct correlation to addictive behavior. It was during this time of questioning that Ray met Izzy Farrach, Homes of Promise’s other Co-Founder. During this conversation, Ray spoke about the need for sober living recovery homes and community. Right away, Izzy spoke up and had the same vision. In fact, earlier that day Izzy was driving through Pomona, California, and remembered how just a few years back he managed a sober living home called The Vision House. Izzy’s heart was stirred and on that day the vision of Homes of Promise was birthed. Shortly after, the third founder Titus Jumper was asked to help with the business side of things and to work alongside Izzy and Ray to make the vision become a reality. A few weeks later a home was found and was aptly named Izzy’s Place. Izzy also became the first house manager, unfortunately, Izzy passed away in September of 2014, but Izzy’s vision did not pass away. Izzy had always wanted to help those seeking recovery. Over the last nine years, Homes of Promise has expanded to ten homes serving both men and women. Homes of Promise has seen hundreds of lives changed and are looking to change thousands more.
